Before you authorize the visit

  • Describe the symptom in observable terms.
  • State when and under what conditions it occurs.
  • Ask the advisor to write your complaint accurately.
  • Provide safe photos, prior repair numbers, and recurrence mileage.

Before you leave with the vehicle

  • Receive the final order even when no repair was performed.
  • Confirm dates, mileage, complaint, findings, and correction.
  • Look for codes, test results, parts, versions, and road-test notes.
  • Keep towing, rental, and other related expense records.

Recurrence rule: If the same condition returns, make a new dated entry with the current mileage. Do not alter the earlier entry. Match the recurrence to the next final repair order.
